Please write a letter to Canon urging them to help stop whaling.

For two weeks the Greenpeace ship tailgated the giant factory ship, the Nisshin Maru, in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, effectively preventing the killing of any whales. By our calculation some 100 whales were spared the harpoon during this time.

The faster the chase, the more fuel we burned. In the end we have had to return to port. Now we know the hunt is back on, the covers have come of the harpoon cannons and whales are dying once more in the Sanctuary. Individual whales can be saved in the open ocean, but to protect all of the whales that seek Sanctuary in the Southern Ocean feeding grounds we need to change opinion in Japan. The message needs to be loud and clear that whaling is not only a bad business but it is bad for business.

The CEO of Canon is one of the most powerful executives in Japan. He heads up the Japanese Business Federation which looks after the needs of all Japanese businesses. His company has made a name for itself as a defender of wildlife. As one of the most powerful corporations in Japan, Canon can save whales.
